NAPA VALLEY MUSEUM

The site and history of Napa Valley, processes of learning, and the educational potentials of both building and landscape are the underlying themes of this competition-winning entry for the Napa Valley Museum. The building and landscape offer immense learning opportunities: both are inextricable parts of the exhibits and programs for invigorating the valley’s cultural and agricultural history. We invested the museum with interpretive exhibits, a “geology ramp,” “docent outposts,” and “discovery” drawers in indoor and outdoor educational spaces, in addition to including a separate educational courtyard and wing. Phase One of the 45,000 square foot museum, including two gallery spaces, offices, and museum store, has been completed.
